Kurt Reinke’s Hydra Recreated with Breptor

Hydra, a 14-metre sailing yacht designed by Kurt Reinke, became a demonstration of how Breptor can bring a historic yacht design into a modern digital environment.

Working from published lines plans, offset tables, and construction drawings, we reconstructed the yacht in Rhinoceros using Breptor. The process began with the hull geometry and continued through bulkheads, frames, longitudinal stiffeners, deck plating, and both cockpits. Interior spaces, machinery, and exterior equipment were then developed to present the yacht as a complete spatial model.

The structural model contains 141 numbered plate parts and 191 structural profiles. Plate components carry material and thickness information and retain their source geometry for development and nesting. Their developed outlines were checked against a 12 × 3-metre sheet format, connecting the reconstructed hull with the preparation of individual fabrication parts.

The mast, sails, rigging, deck fittings, and finished materials completed the visual presentation. Where the published documentation was incomplete, details were interpreted for this demonstration.

The project shows how Breptor supports the transition from historical drawings to an organized 3D construction model—a basis for design review, further engineering, fabrication planning, and presentation.

Response Marine 576 Recreated with Breptor

Response Marine’s Design No. 576, an aluminium utility boat with a cathedral hull, provided the starting point for a demonstration of Breptor’s modelling and construction workflow.

Using the published study drawings, we reconstructed the hull in Rhinoceros and developed its structural components with Breptor. The work progressed from hull surfaces and frame stations to plating, bulkheads, transverse frames, longitudinal stiffeners, and deck panels. The wheelhouse was then developed with window and door openings, reinforcement, and roof framing.

The resulting construction model contains 102 numbered plate parts and 30 structural profiles. Materials, thicknesses, and component identities were assigned within Breptor, retaining the source geometry used for plate development and nesting. The original imperial plate thicknesses were adapted to a metric schedule for this reconstruction.

A modelled 200 hp outboard, a preliminary mounting structure, helm equipment, deck fittings, railings, and a flush foredeck hatch completed the presentation. Blue hull sides and coordinated materials were used for a series of rendered views and a full-orbit video.

Created as a demonstration based on study-level documentation, the model includes interpreted and customized details. It shows how Breptor can support the progression from an existing boat concept to an organized construction model and a detailed visual presentation.

Tini — A Compact Aluminium Fishing Boat Developed with Breptor

Tini demonstrates how Breptor brings hull geometry, structural detailing and presentation together in one Rhino model. The project includes aluminium hull plating, frames, stiffeners, seats and storage compartments, with construction elements organised as Breptor Parts carrying their identification and thickness data for nesting.

For presentation, the model was enhanced with blue hull sides, deck finishes, seating, a compact outboard and fishing equipment. These visual additions remain separate from the construction Parts, preserving the underlying model for further detailing and sheet layout.
